In brief
For women past menopause, raloxifene 60 mg is prescribed to prevent or treat osteoporosis, and the Evista leaflet notes it can also cut invasive breast cancer risk in those with osteoporosis or a high risk.
Postmenopausal osteoporosis and invasive breast cancer risk
Raloxifene is taken by women who have gone through menopause, either to stop osteoporosis developing or to treat it once present. According to the Evista consumer medicine information from Eli Lilly Australia (September 2023), it also reduces the chance of invasive breast cancer for postmenopausal women who have osteoporosis or who carry a high risk of this cancer.
This listing shows raloxifene 60 mg. It does not name the manufacturer of the product supplied, so check the label on the pack you receive and confirm with your prescriber or pharmacist that it matches your prescription.

Compare packs of the same strength. These examples are for 60 mg and are calculated from the listed prices at the shop’s Australian-dollar rate on 9 October 2026, before delivery or other checkout charges.

|---|---|---|---|
| 60 mg | 30 tablets | A$93.39 | A$3.11 |
| 60 mg | 60 tablets | A$181.04 | A$3.02 |
| 60 mg | 180 tablets | A$472.75 | A$2.63 |

A lower price per unit means a larger upfront payment. Choose only the quantity and strength appropriate to your prescription, and check the expiry date. Prices can change, so confirm the current pack price before ordering.
Evista under ARTG 64709, its PBS status and five more raloxifene brands
The Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods is the country’s official register of therapeutic goods, and Evista raloxifene hydrochloride 60 mg tablets in blister packs are recorded there under ARTG 64709. On healthdirect, Evista appears as a 60 mg film-coated tablet in Schedule 4, Prescription Only Medicine, and is shown as PBS-listed. Healthdirect also has pages for Fixta, Ralovista, Raloxifene Apotex, Raloxifene Auro and Raloxifene WGR. These entries relate to those brands, not to the product on this listing.
Oestrogen receptor agonism in bone, with no endometrial stimulation
As Australian Prescriber describes it, raloxifene affects oestrogen receptors differently from one tissue to another. In bone it acts as an agonist, yet it leaves the lining of the uterus unstimulated.
Past or present clots and other reasons Evista is ruled out
Under the Evista leaflet, raloxifene must not be used by people who have a blood clot, have had one before or have a clot that has not been treated. It is also unsuitable for women who have not reached menopause or who might fall pregnant, for men, and for anyone with an allergy to raloxifene.
Staying mobile on long trips, atrial fibrillation and liver function
Long spells without moving make clots more likely, so on lengthy journeys it helps to get up and walk around. Earlier strokes and atrial fibrillation are both matters to bring up with your doctor. Raloxifene is not recommended for people whose liver function is impaired, and routine breast examinations and mammograms continue during treatment.
Daily timing, leg cramps and warfarin or cholestyramine
The leaflet describes the usual dose as one tablet a day, taken at whatever time suits and with or without food, continued regularly to gain the long-term benefit; follow the dose your doctor prescribes. Among the frequent effects it names are hot flushes, cramping of the legs, muscle spasms, flu-like symptoms and swelling in the hands, feet or legs. Seek urgent medical attention for severe pain or swelling in a leg, severe stomach pain, or breathlessness or pain when breathing. Interactions named in the leaflet include warfarin and cholestyramine, and oestrogens or hormone replacement therapy are used together with raloxifene only under a doctor’s supervision.
